A letter to Erin

Written by Emma. Posted in Uncategorized

I can’t believe you are almost two, how did that happen?  I don’t know where the two years have gone but I sure as hell know what the next one brings and if I could swap places with you I would in a heartbeat. But right now I want to celebrate the past year and think about how much you’ve changed!

You developed such a cheeky character this past year and bring out the best in all of us.  You have amused us so much with the lengths you will go to to get what you want and it normally involves food!!   From taking the pop tarts to helping yourself straight from the cupboards.

We had a fabulous summer and you loved nothing more than being outside playing.  You entertained so many people in Tenerife with your swimming, people kept stopping and watching you as you jumped in and swam underwater to me.  People couldn’t believe that you swam like a mermaid squealing with delight!

You have learnt so many new skills and have become really independant.

You have also loved not being the littlest, and seeing you help look after your little cousin is beautiful.  It made me laugh when Grandad told us that you lead Olly out of the lounge into the kitchen where he then gets stuck and you run back to have all the toys to yourself!  You always tell grandad that olly needs changing aswell and get the nappy ready!

I am so proud of you and although the next year is going to be tough I know you will keep smiling through it all.  One of the greatest things about this whole treatment process is spending so  much time with you – even if I am all ceebied out!!  Your speech has already come on leaps and bounds now that you are relying on me more again.  You have to ask and explain what you want.  Your fine motor skills have improved beyond your age aswell.  You spend ages colouring and doing jigsaws now and have shown how quick to learn that you really are.

We are not having a big party this year as I think it will be too much for you, but I promise you next year we are doing the works and I cannot wait to see you running about playing musical bumps and such like.  I love you so much little lady and you enrich our lives in more ways than you will ever know.

Have a wonderful birthday next week I promise it will be a special day. xxxxxxxx

What a lovely post! Happy Birthday! Hope things get better for Little Erin. My Little A turns 2 next January – won’t have a birthday party until she is three I think.

Thanks, don’t blame you on the party front – they are totally stressful I always find!
