Cooking with the kids.
I am married to a man that can’t cook – when I say can’t it is more a case of I won’t I think. Husband is one of three boys and my wonderful mother in law cooks good hearty meals and fed her boys well. My childminder knows that on the rare ocassions when I have been in hospital or away the children will be dished up beans on toast from dad. Therefore she normally takes pity on both the husband and the children and goes beyond her duty by cooking for them as well.
Therefore determined that Dylan will be a good husband in the future I have encouraged him in the kitchen. Dylan is turning into a good little chef, he enjoys the prepping of food and putting it together. One of the benefits of this is that children seem to enjoy food far more if they have had a hand in preparing it. Therefore when McCain’s recently got in touch and asked if the children would like to have a go at creating some of their Olympic themed recipes I knew that they would.
Dylan made the feta and lamb burgers. They were great to make with a young helper as it literally all went on a mixing bowl together and then was divided up into burger shapes. I think there may have been a bit on finger nail in there too as a left handed child he does find chopping parsley challenging.
I have also been watching the weather forecast and apparently the jet stream that has been ruining this summer is passing over this weekend. Therefore these burgers would be fab on the BBQ!
If you check out the McCain summer of sharing page you will find more Olympic themed recipes.
