Entering the tween zone…..
Where has my boy gone? I seem to have lost the boy I once had. Before my eyes he is turning into a tween.
According to wikipedia “Along with the teen years, the tween years are a time of the most rapid and dramatic change in development since conception and early infancy”
According to me it a time for grunting, selective hearing, trying to argue back and being stubborn! I love my boy but am exasperated with him in equal measure!
He suddenly cannot find things we have asked him to get, such as the bookbag he couldn’t find. This is because he just looks at this room and expects things to jump into his hands! The stalling techniques he has perfected, leave me trying to give him space and time to make the right decision but inside I feel knots of tension.
Only he can turn a two minute job into a ten minute task. The dinner I dish up is never good enough unless its carbonara!
I have always encouraged my children to have their own opinions and to have freedom of speech to say what they think (without swear words – only I’m allowed them!). This has been turned in on me as he uses well thought out arguments and uses his intelligence to his advantage.
I adore him.
The toddler years have nothing on wilful tweens and at the moment I have two of them!

Sadly I recognise that only to well. I do have a teen who is 17 so I have been there before bit my 8 yr old is a nightmare at the moment. It is a difficult age I know, but he is my little boy and I love him but I do wish he would behave less like a teenager

Oh this sounds familiar! I wasn’t expecting mood swings from a boy at this age – thought it was just a girl thing!
