French Wines With Style
I enjoy a nice glass of wine of an evening or with a good meal. Therefore when I was offered the opportunity to take art in a wine challenge I had visions of myself sniffing and swirling wine around. There was little chance of me saying know to this one!
I received a lovely hamper that included a Chardonnay from the Le Cirque range and a Merlot that was Le Grand Chai Chateau La Brande. My task was to suggest food to go with these wines. The wines are both from the international wine challenge.
White goes well with fish and white meat and as the sun has finally come out we decided to BBQ. Therefore Dylan got busy in the kitchen and prepared some lovely turkey and feta home made burgers. The burgers were lovely and the feta melted perfectly. My little man added some parsley and chilli to give an extra kick. I thought this paired really well the the chardonnay and bought out the a honey taste in the wine. It reminded me nostaligically of my childhood holidays camping in south France. Dad would BBQ every night night we had great family times.
The red was harder for me to pair as I am not so much of a red drinker. However after getting the recipe books out I decided to give it a go with a leg of lamb seasoned with garlic and rosemary. It may be a little obvious but it went really well with a slow roasted leg for a relaxed sunday lunch. I enjoyed the Merlot and finding out a little more about it. I did know that a little red wine is good for you and will be buying this again from Laithwaites.
Disclosure: I was gifted the wine for the purpose of this post. The thoughts and opinions are all my own.
