It’s only October!
Chloe tells me its 72 sleeps until Christmas! Yesterday Lee and I stopped in surprise. We looked at each other when we could here a Christmas song playing. That familiar tune, the ringing of bells. We stared at each other a little blankly – had we stepped into a time warp? Had we hibernated now the first snap of cold winter winds were blowing? Waking weeks after we fell into a deep slumber. It was all a bit confusing…
Until we heard the children laughing. They had downloaded an advent calendar and sleeps till Christmas app on the IPad and IPod. This is even a bit early in my childlike approach to Christmas. I love Christmas, I love buying, wrapping and then opening the presents. I love the look of surprise and awe in their faces. I love making the day magical and get caught up in all the hype. I have however tried to ignore the first signs the season is changing. The countless gift guides already in circulation, the festive food aisle appearing in the supermarkets, where not so along ago sat garden benches, weedkiller and kids garden toys. The Marks and Spencers food leaflet that dropped through the letter box this week has been shoved under a pile of paper in the kitchen. It is not time yet – it doesn’t start until after the October half term! Why hasn’t someone told the shops that its over two months away.
Therefore I have banned them for looking at the apps until nearer the event! But when I do start my preparation and shopping I do as much as possible online as it’s so easy and I love it being delivered and I don’t have to struggle with bags and the buggy. Before I buy I always make use of discount codes from netvoucercodes.co.uk to save myself some pennies and pounds. At the moment deals include free delivery for some shops and money off cases of wine.
I like saving money – especially when it is that easy. Now where did I put the tinsel?
