The Olympic Torch visits Gloucester

Written by Emma. Posted in Uncategorized

The sun is shining which always makes everything seem better and I have really got caught up in all the patriotic celebrations this week.  The Olympic torch came to Gloucestershire on Wed and Thursday and I really should have got myself together and gone on Wednesday when it was here during the early evening.  However due to my unfortunate start to the week I hadn’t got organised.  Therefore Thursday morning we jumped out of bed and raced to the town centre to see the parade.  I am really glad we did, it was a great morning with a lovely atmosphere.  The children were flag waving and really enjoyed the party feeling.

Dylan was the one who wanted to see the celebrations and torch the most and we watched it in one part of the city and then made our way across the centre to see it again. Therefore we saw this once in a lifetime opportunity twice!

My only criticism is I would have liked to see some more street entertainment behind the torch.  They was some before it arrived but as soon as the torch passed you, that was it.  It could have been a little anti climatic.

This week the celebratory theme continues with Jubilee celebrations at school. It has made me want to get out the bunting and celebrate!
