Top 5 things to do with the kids this summer
The summer is a great season to spend time with your kids. However, with all the free time, you can run out of ways to keep the little ones entertained. But don’t suffer the torment of having restless kids, read on for some great ways to spend time with your kids this summer!
Summer blockbusters, at home
Every summer, one of the big film companies brings out a new blockbuster that turns out to be the same as last year, save for one or two gimmicks. So why not buck the trend and turn your back on the big screen. Instead, you can bring the hits to your home and rent a few classic films. Get the popcorn out and sit down and enjoy some real gems like the Home Alone trilogy, the Toy Story films and Big.
Go to the beach
Nothing says summer quite like a day at the beach. There are plenty of things to keep the kids occupied, like building a sandcastle or even burying each other in the sand. Although surfing might be a bit of a stretch, body boarding is easy enough for everyone to do. Of course, it is important to supervise children at all times when they’re playing near water, and you’ll also need to make sure that you’ve kept the picnic well under wraps to stop sand from getting in it!
Birthday parties
For some reason, there always seems to be a lot of birthday parties during summer. This summer however, it isn’t just the birthday boy or girl who is going to have fun on their special day, your kids can too. Instead of just buying a traditional card, you could have fun with the kids making one. And don’t worry if you can’t handle mess, you can make it an e cards birthday by sending one online. Check out Hallmark for some great designs and theme options. With an e card you can have your own personalised captions and even add pictures or a video.
Go to see a friendly match
A family day out to go to watch top class football generally means one thing: huge costs. However, summer is a great time to take the kids to see some of the best footballers in the country on the cheap. As well as lucrative tours abroad, a lot of the big clubs play smaller, local sides to get a bit of pre-season fitness. It could be worth checking to see who your local team has on their pre-season fixture list.
Water balloon fight
If the weather is hot enough, you could always throw a good old-fashioned water balloon fight. You can get a whole load of water balloons for cheap and they’re easy to fill up. As well as being great fun, kids generally expend a lot of energy during water balloon fights so they should be ready to sleep when bedtime comes around!
