Uniform of choice
I seem to have taken my eye of the ball this year – due to the non summer we have had. This has left me in panic mode this week as I have not bought the gazillions of new summer clothes that befits going on holiday. Normally my suitcases are bulging with clothes I don’t get around to wearing. However this years summer wardrobe consists of the year before lasts tatty shorts and a few vest tops. So armed with my debit card and the 12yr old we headed to the shops. The 12 yr old was in desperate need as her legs seem to grow longer night after night. She is at that stage of now fitting into size 6 bottoms and I was expecting to find some good sale bargains as whenever I am shopping for me it seems that there are rows and rows of size six left. Size six wouldn’t accommodate my ample butt cheeks – I would need a size six for each cheek!!!
Chloe though had very specific ideas about what she wanted to buy and wear on holiday. This comes from from her peers and makes me smile as they don’t see the irony of their behaviour. I love how these tweenagers moan about their schools and wearing a high quality school uniform as it stifles there individuality and creativity. Yet come the school holidays and the weekends they just swap the schools uniform for a uniform of choice. Chloe and her friends all look very similar and frequently buy the exact same clothes – high waisted shorts and playsuits seem to be the uniform for the summer.
I have some great snaps of them all wearing the same clothes just maybe in a different colours and when one of them buys something new the rest seem to follow suit! This is definitely a girl thing as my son still shows no interest in clothes and will wear whatever I choose for him. I just wish he kept his clothes a bit cleaner!
