There are some inventions that save me time and money and quite frankly I couldn’t cope without. A sandwich toaster for example. No matter how much of a rush we are in, a warm toasty can be thrown together for an emergency snack. Three children mean different clubs everyday, Dylan has hot school dinners so only needs a snack tea. Good job as Tuesday’s see me picking up three children in three different places at five pm. I’ve just about mastered that feat, but getting home and eating something before cubs starts at six is a challenge. A baked bean and cheese toasty is Dylan’s favourite, Chicken and mayo mine whilst Erin sticks traditional with cheese and ham.
Another time saver that makes my life easier is a tumble drier. I used to dry everything outside and then spend hours ironing. What a waste of time. I now tumble (unless it’s the summer) and give things a quick shake and smooth out creases. This works for lots of Erin’s clothes, T Shirts and jumpers. Meaning my ironing takes half the time. Since taking possession of my fancy stream iron I can now finish even quicker.
I also have a latch key child . When Chloe was given the key to the door I thought it would mean coming home to a nice mug of coffee and a warm house. Instead I frequently come home to either a sauna or a freezer. She often just whallops the heating up to full and I walk in feeling like I need to don a bikini quickly. Shame that the bikini body is no longer visible underneath the layers of clothes I hide behind! If it is not hot hot it is cold as she has forget to put it on completely or she has gone to friends on the way home. Therefore I would like to use the new system and app from Hive which allows you to control your home heating and water from your smart phone. This would be ideal as I could switch it on just as I am leaving school knowing that the house will be getting warm as I arrive. The benefit is that I don’t want to use a home timer as I leave school at different times depending on whether we have after school meetings.
The idea is simple really. You just have a little hub that the engineer plugs into you router, a small receiver is installed near your boiler and then you use the free app to talk to each other. You can see what the temperature is in your home and then adjust the setting accordingly.
Now that really would make me life a bit easier. All I need now is that automatic coffee machine that will provide me with a steaming coffee as I walk in the door. Oh and a tidy up fairy would be nice.
