My dining room is in need of a makeover. Not the furniture and not the actual dining table but the walls and the soft furnishings. It should have been done by now as it was this years project. I had picked the colours, I had seen some curtains and I was just waiting for my dad to slot us in.
My dad is my personal decorator, an eye for detail and skills to match he is the one I want to do it. Two years ago he did the living makeover and demonstrated how to hang wallpaper. Yet it has all been put on hold because he is poorly and waiting for an operation. Dad has kidney stones and not for the first time. He has had two operations and is now waiting for a third big op because one of his stones is a whooping 25mm. Therefore I am waiting for my make over.
However I have made a start on the soft furnishings. I am part of the Wayfair Home Experts Panel and they set a challenge to style a gold table. Gold is back, bigger and better than before. I chose the Safavieh Milton table and decided to use it as a drinks table. More specifically a gin table! The table has a mirrored top which makes it ideal for drinks. The table is iron and glass and certainly adds a touch of elegance to a room.
Like Gin, drinks tables were a thing in the 80’s but have made a resurgence. Therefore I thought it was a great pairing. I have enjoyed trying different gins lately and this is the perfect place to showcase them!
The size of the table had practically been made to fit my dining room. Behind our doors is a little corner that is the same size of the table!
In addition to the table I also treated myself to some new Hiball glasses from Wayfair. The glasses were just £24.99 and I loved that they have different colourways. I am forever forgetting which glass is mine but this will help.
The table has made a great addition to the room and I am looking forward to decorating the rest of the room to pull it altogether.
