Hands up if you have put the heating on yet. I nearly did last week but an extra jumper got me through the hour until I went out on the school run. However there is no denying that soon enough I will be flicking the switch – the heated blanket has already been snuggled under this month. The second way I have been reminded that summer (did we actually have one though?) is well and truly over is that Chloe has the first cold of the season, back at school three weeks and yesterday required a day off school, shares taken out in tissues, soup and chocolate consumed to cheer her up as she rested on the sofa.
However one of the few things I like about winter is the comfort food, cottage pies and fruit crumbles are a cuddle on a winters evening. Therefore it was good to see that Ecover have developed some recipe cards with some winter warmers on like Rosie’s pea, mint and broccoli soup, recipes can be found here.
Soup is our turn to food especially on Saturday lunch times after Dylan has played football, Chloe hockey and the rest of us have stood on the sidelines watching them.
However I do find that soup is one of the stains that annoys me on clothes as it is one of the foods that is guaranteed to get split down a five years old top! Therefore it is a good job I turn to Ecover to clean clothes and dishes. Ecover has recently launched its new and improved washing up liquid and Ecover’s new formulation washes up to 40% more plates* and contains 20% more plant-based content. With a 99.8% plant-based powerful clean, Ecover now performs just as we as conventional cleaners, cutting through grease and grime to ensure your dishes, cutlery and glaware are sparkling. So, no more compromises between green and clean!
I like the fact that it is so environmentally friendly but up for the job. This is important as each of the children have jobs to do in the evening and Chloe’s job is washing the dishes and quite frankly she needs all the help she can get. Dylan is expected to put the dishes away and this is always a bone of contention in the house too. Previously evenings went something like Chloe washing up. Then Dylan refusing to put the dishes away because they were not actually clean, so he would put them back in the washing up bowl. Chloe would then shout at Dylan who would put the dishes away still wet. However now, the dishes are clean and shiny, Dyl waits for them to dry and then puts them away. Ecover has restored some peace to our evenings whilst I bathe Erin.
