Now that the evenings are lighter and the sun is shining we love getting out in the evening. We have been using the early evenings to go for a walk and ensure we are hitting our steps on the fitbits. This also gives Lee and I the chance to have a conversation in peace. The joy of three children, two of who are up late every night, means that having an uninterrupted conversation is seen as a luxury!
The summer evenings are always my favourite times of the day and sitting in the garden with the evening sun is a gift. This can only be beaten by sharing the evening with friends! Here is Gloucestershire we are lucky to have some beautiful Forests on our doorstep. Be it the Royal Forest of Dean with its Go Ape course, segways and Puzzlewood or Westonbirt Arboretum.
Over the past few years I have been to many a music concert with Forest Live, the first being JLS some years back. I took my daughter and her best friend because it is the perfect introduction to live music. We are able to take a picnic and chairs and you simply find your preferred spot and set up camp. The atmosphere is always to relaxed and a great way to relax and have some summer fun. If dancing is your thing it is easy to head down towards the front of the stage and party with your friends.
I have since seen Simply Red and last year Spandau Ballet at Westonbirt and the nights were such fun. A group of mums I know actually had a genius idea and got a limo to the venue and back, this meant they enjoyed arriving in style and did not have to drive. They were able to enjoy a drink on the way there and were definitely up for a party by the time the gig started.
This summer Westonbirt again has a great line up including:
Thursday 16 June – Rudimental
Friday 17 June – Kaiser Chiefs
Saturday 18 June – UB40 feat. Ali Campbell, Astro & Mickey Virtue
Sunday 19 June – Tom Jones you can find out how to get tickets for all the performances by following this link.
I will be rocking it out to Kaiser Chiefs with my best friend. We will be picnicking and hopefully enjoying the summer sun – do let me know if you enjoy live music in the forest and also check out what is happening in a forest near you this summer.
