School holidays are almost upon us and whilst I love having the children home and I love the lazy mornings I do miss the peace! Therefore it was lovely to sneak in a leisurely lunch at Pizza Express before the mayhem of half term started. My blog and work life has thankfully been so busy these past few months and I am so grateful that everything is going so well. I used to think it was tempting fate to say that, but since changing my outlook I am thankful for the work and amazing opportunities that keep coming my way. This past month has been one of my busiest yet. I have been squirreling away on a secret work thing and I have also taken on a virtual assistant to help with my admin. Believe me she has her work cut out! I say virtual, but so far there has been no remote working because she sits in my living room with me which is really nice. It is good to have a coffee and lunch together but generally we sit in silence working. Pizza Express recently invited me to come and try the new menu which has bought back some old favourites. I took Becky with me to celebrate our new working relationship!
Pizza Express in Gloucester is situated at The Quays and is a lovely location for a lunch. We opted for a table in the window where the sun shone on us. We both started with mushroom which was huge. I then had the NEW Basilicata Romana which is Lamb, mint and chilli meatballs, red onion, mozzarella and garlic oil on a Capia pepper and tomato base. it is finished with rocket, shaved Gran Milano cheese and basil pesto. It was delicious and oh so filling – I managed half and took the other half home only for the older two to argue over who was having it! I should have eaten the lot and not shared! Becky opted for the NEW Cannelloni which is soft pasta filled with spinach and ricotta, baked with tomato, béchamel, mozzarella, garlic oil and Gran Milano cheese. Again she said it was delicious and it looked it. I am not one to pass on dessert and the Chocolate Fondant did not disappoint. There was no leaving any of that and taking it home for the kids!
Pizza Expresss is a great family friendly restaurant with plenty on the menu to suit everyone from vegetarians to meat eaters. The Quays is such a modern and light place it was lovely to sit there. Time whizzed by as we enjoyed the sun shining and great food. Our waitress was really attentive and made sure everyone in the restaurant was having an enjoyable lunch. I do encourage you to go and try out the new Autumn Menu as you won’t be disappointed.
