The weather is finally playing nice and it means that we can wear white jeans and white shoes with a smile on our face! I am a recent convert to Po-Zu which are an ethical shoe company. I first became more aware of fair trade and the behind the scenes in the production of consumable items back in the early 1990’s when I was at sixth form.
I became aware of sweatshops and paying workers a fair price and it stuck with me. As a sociology teacher, I have taught students about Fairtrade and it was certainly a hot topic in PHSE lessons. Society and individuals have become much more aware but there are some companies out there that are really making a difference and Po-zu are one of them.
Dubbed a game-changer for ethical footwear consumers and Star Wars lovers alike, the new Sri Lankan ethical range will include unisex and vegan sneakers at a very affordable price point.
The pumps are made with organic cotton canvas upper, a coconut husk and natural latex FootMattress™ The new Sri Lankan ethical line will sit alongside Po-Zu’s Portuguese range. I was recently gifted a pair of the new Butterfly pumps. I do love a comfy pump that looks great with jeans and a summary top.
The Po-Zu brand also offers the coolest Star Wars inspired ranges, again all ethically made. I have flat feet and need to wear insoles in my shoes and the range allows room for me to wear my orthotics with the butterfly sneaker. The sneakers are super comfy.
You can watch the process of them being made in this short video:
If you want to learn more about Fair Trade and ethical fashion a great place to start is with Safia Minney her book raises awareness of modern slavery in the fashion industry and shows how it can be eradicated by business and consumers.
The Po-Zu sneaker looks fabulous and is made to last. I will be putting my best foot forward this summer and wearing them most days!
