I long for lazy weekends with reading the papers in peace whilst drinking fresh coffee and eating warm croissants with jam. In my imagination this is only topped by a weekend break away somewhere, preferably a spa weekend where I can be pampered and lounge about in a bathrobe all day. The harsh reality of weekends when you are parents to three children are somewhat different. I visited my brother at University last weekend and it reminded of a time when I was so carefree. A time when the weekends stretched ahead and I lived in a hedonistic place. It is a stark contrast to now!
My weekend in numbers
2 How many of my children will play in sports matches over a weekend
1 swimming lesson
2 How many times Chloe will play hockey in a weekend.
90 minutes will be spent watching young people pass a ball amongst themselves.
8 times I will drive the car dropping and collecting children at activities. 9 if I include taking Lee to snooker.
10 times Erin will moan that she doesn’t want to take her sister to hockey.
3 times I promise Erin a trip to the park if she is good
1 time I will actually take her.
6 glasses of Rose will be drunk in the evening after a busy day.
4 lots of washing including school uniform and sports kits.
1 hour ironing the uniform for a new week.
35 miles driving around after the children
5 children that will invariably come to play
65 times I will be asked whats to eat or told we have no nice food in the cupboard.
7.50 will be spent on match fee’s
12.50 given out in pocket money
90 minutes spent helping with homework
3 beds that need changing
10 times I will wash up
countless times the children will ask me where ‘x’ or ‘y’ is
9 times the children will argue over what to watch on TV
Too many minutes there will be football on my TV
My doors are opened and closed so much that I think we should have revolving doors like they have in posh hotels! It is a good job that I have my turtle mat that is a dirt trapper and means that my floor is saved from the hockey and football boots. The children know shoes have to come off before they step past the mat!
Help me out what numbers have I forgotten??
Disclosure: I was gifted the Turtle Mat for the purpose of the review, thoughts and opinions are my own.
