Weekends can be fast, fun and frenetic. I find myself rushing from place to place and trying to cram in lots of family time. My children are just as busy and this weekend was no exception which is why Monday offers me a little bit of solace. A day to charge the metaphorical batteries and get the house back in order.
Saturday saw me taking Chloe to a hockey match whilst Lee took Dylan to football and refereed his game. I then picked Chloe back up dragging poor Erin with me, the school uniforms were then washed and homework with Erin attempted. There was time for a quick lunch before Dylan’s friends arrived for his birthday treat. Lee took the four boys to watch Cheltenham Town in action (second football match of the day!). Next it was pizza time and lots of loud noises coming from the dining room. They finally settled to sleep just after midnight but were up again with the birds just after 6am (thanks for that boys!). Chloe was then taken to another hockey fixture, this time playing for the juniors to help them out. Sunday afternoon saw me changing the beds and popping to mums for a coffee. I came home help Dylan with some homework before collapsing on the sofa!
Therefore Monday is always welcome in my house. The freedom and joy of freelancing now means that I don’t ever have that Sunday night feeling, instead I enjoy the stillness and quietness that Monday brings.
Take today, I have helped at Erin’s school changing the reading the reading books before coming home and having a nice breakfast and coffee and switching the laptop on. I will have four hours to work and to potter. Often I go for a run – but not today as I went yesterday. I will get the house straight and everything back in place. Monday evening will be relaxing as I have my monthly massage booked before I come home and indulge in my bath, I will light a candle and use some of the lovely products that Utopia have sent me to help me relax. They certainly knew what a busy mum needs in her bathroom! Therefore I am coining Monday as Relax Monday’s.
