My living room makeover and how to hang wallpaper

I secretly started plotting my living room makeover last year. I started with comments about how the sofas were looking tired and it went from there! Lee was hesitant at first as the one sofa was also a sofa bed which he believed would be an inconvenience to not have anymore. Yet I got my way here is My living room makeover and how to hang wallpaper.

Then at Christmas Lee needed to sleep on the sofa bed whilst I was with a poorly Erin and suddenly he realised that the sofa bed was not as comfy as he thought. It had served us well and was ok for one person to sleep on but not for two and therefore we didn’t really need it. I was a very happy Emma! Then the makeover speeded up. We decided on a grey and lilac colour scheme but the fab Jen from Love Chic Living encouraged me to be braver with colour and then when I spotted a new range in Next I was smitten straight away.  After showing Lee and he actually agreed with me I headed back to Next and armed up with wallpaper, cushions, curtains  and home accessories.  I basically shopped the range knowing that it would look fab together.  Even I couldn’t go wrong if I just bought the whole look!

Once the sofa’s were in which were from DFS, we pulled everything together.  My dad did the wallpapering and here you can see the results!  I still owe him a Sunday Lunch which was his payment terms!

The Vlog:

I love love love it! It is just what I wanted and the room seems bigger and brighter.  The wall art was done on a budget and I actually got a bit creative with it.  I wrote about it over at Mums savvy savings I did buy the large print from Debenhams as it matched the colours so well.  I plan on looking for some more wall art and adding to it as I see things.

  1. I wish I was as brave as you when it came to the whole makeover thing. I play it too safe, and everything looks a touch boring then. I’ll have to check out Next’s ranges when I’m thinking of a change. My OH will not be nearly so agreeable though

  2. Fab and good on you for being brave! I need to be brave with your lounge next here. Pinterest is inspiring and conflicting me in equal measures!

  3. I’ve had a love hate relationship with wallpaper after moving into our house which was covered in woodchip! I keep seeing beautiful wallpapers that I’d love to add to our home but hubby isn’t keen.

  4. I don’t have any wallpaper in my house at this moment but we are thinking about making a featured wall in our bedroom using it; I think it will add a nice texture to the room.

  5. I’m ready for a makeover in our living room now. We painted it magnolia when we moved in last year and now I’m in need of colour! Your room looks lovely 🙂

  6. I really like your wallpaper and envy you having such a perfectionist to put it up! My husband puts so much paste on that the paper slides all over the place and never ends up level! #bloggershomes

  7. My friend has this wallpaper and I love it! It’s colourful but not too ‘in your face’ and Next do a great match range of bits and bobs. That would work perfectly in our kitchen/living room, but I can’t have the same paper as my friend…can I? Thanks for linking up #bloggershomes x

  8. It looks great. I bought the curtains and cushions for my bedroom but they didn’t last long as I found them a bit cold for a bedroom and decided I prefer cosier colours, il be doing a blog this week on my bedroom makeover and in it will be the several looks I had and didn’t like before deciding on its current one. I wish I could just find something and stick to it! I love next for bedding and curtains and my current set is next.
