Setting goals

Looking forward past December and my mind is currently contemplating next April.  In April I will turn 40 and I want to celebrate in style.  Travelling is something I plan to do more of as the children get older.  I am adventurous and want to do more than just the usual holiday destinations.  I want to do different things and experience different cultures, eat different food and see the sites therefore I am setting goals.  I have gotten the travelling bug later than many.  When  I left University rather than travel I wanted to be a mum and now that millennium baby is almost 16 I feel the travelling bug and I want to take the children with me.  I have created myself a little list of six things that I plan to achieve during my forties:

Turning 40 – what I aim to achieve in the next ten years.

  1. Take a Hot Air balloon ride.  I have wanted to go in a hot air balloon for as long as I can remember.  Sipping champagne as as I float over fields sounds so beautiful.
  2. visit Mexico – my dream destination!
  3. Go on a city break with girl friends.  I have never done this, apart from London.  I would love to drop the carwith  airport parking and head off for a weekend of sighseeing, drinking and shopping.
  4. Own a Mulberry bag, materialistic I know! Finding one in a charity shop would make my year, so far I have found a Radly purse but it shows you can strike gold!
  5. Jump out of a plane, I am not good with heights but know that I would love the rush of adrenalin from doing it.
  6. Lose two stone.  Since leaving teaching I have put on weight as I sit about more working on my laptop.
  7. Learn photography.  I would like to know how to use my camera much better.  I often have photo envy from fellow bloggers!

As I do each of these six things I will find something else to add to the list.  I think it is always good to have goals.  However that still hasn’t helped me to decide how to see in my fourth decade.  Maybe a weekend away with friends in a cottage with a hot-tub and a  chef. Well a girl can dream right!
