Three weeks into the school term and normal routines have been embedded once again. It has been a big step up for Chloe who has started her A-Level courses. The hockey season has also started and once more she is playing hockey at least 4/5 times a week. It is pretty full-on. However, her snoring remains an issue and so we have been reviewing snoring products including snoring strips and a Kally sleep anti-snore pillow to help give a better night’s sleep.
My teenager likes her sleep and sleeps about 10 hours a night which is rather a lot but she often wakes up tired as the quality of her sleep is broken. She often snores and therefore we have been trying is some anti-snoring devices in order to give her a better nights sleep.
Chloe has always been a really heavy breather and when I was away with her on our trip to Kos I became more aware of it. She generally sleeps with her door shut so I wasn’t aware just how noisy she could be but it is something to keep an eye on as my brother and wider family members have sleep apnea.
She has been treated in the past for nasal polyps which can be a symptom of hypermobility which all three children are diagnosed with. Poor nasal breathing is one of the main causes of snoring and it seems that this is Chloe’s issue. Her friends often point out her snoring on sleepovers!
Treatments we have tried for snoring
- oxyhero was suggested for the following reasons it promises to be effective for snoring, colds and endurance sports. oxyhero push ensures better nasal breathing through gentle dilation of the nostrils. They suggest poor nasal breathing is a major cause of snoring and oxyhero is effective against that. The oxyhero-nasal-dilator is recommended by ENT doctors which also appealed to us. The oxyhero push comes in three different sizes (S/M/L) – you can find out the right size by inserting it gently into your nose. The nose cones also are easily detachable. This did offer some relief from the snoring.
- We also tried a snoring strip. She found this fiddly at first and it took some getting used to. However, after persevering she has found that they have helped and she feels that she is sleeping better.
- One of the biggest benefits came from using an anti snoring pillow and we recommend Kally Sleep for this. One way to lessen or prevent snoring is to change your sleeping position. You are less likely to snore if you sleep on your side, which helps open up your airways to let air flow more freely. An anti-snoring pillow will also help you to keep your body in a better sleeping position by supporting both your head and neck. The Kally Sleep specialised snoring pillow has an ergonomically s-shaped foam core to do exactly that, and is also surrounded by hollow fibre to give you just the right amount of support. You can shop the collection here. This simple switch can be such a game changer.
If you are bothered by snoring you don’t have to put up with it. You can try these different treatments for snoring and see if a simple solution can work for you.
