Now that the children are back at school I have noticed that we are looking ahead to winter and Christmas. It seems that you have to be organised if you want to secure the hottest tickets in town to see the most popular Christmas shows that your children will be talking about for a long time afterwards.
In Gloucester, one of the hottest events is Carrot Production’s presentation of the iconic film The Snowman accompanied by a live orchestra. Tickets are now on sale at venues across the country. Most venues are predicted to sell out long before December. I am really excited to be taking Erin to this on December 14th, it will be a great end to the school term and a highlight of our Christmas celebrations.
If you are keen to start the Christmas fortnight off with a bang then The Snowman experience offers much more than a viewing of the beloved movie, itself made extra vivid by the presence of live musicians: a professional orchestra and a young soloist performing the famous Walking in the Air song. The programme also includes a second animation, specially commissioned by Carrot Productions. This year some venues will be treated to a world exclusive in the form of A Donkey’s Tale. This heart-warming story of Dillon the Donkey, an ordinary donkey with an extraordinary dream that takes him on a journey that will change his life, has been specially written and composed by Daniel Whibley.
The production takes place in the magnificent Gloucester Cathedral which is a wonderful setting all year round but especially at Christmas. Wrap up warm and head to the Cathedral for this family spectacular and then go home for warm hot chocolate. It offers a great way that families can enjoy the magic of the season together and in previous years multi generational families have enjoyed attending together as it really is a show for all ages.
