Visiting the cinema as a child was always a school holiday treat and over the years my children have enjoyed the same treat. We go to see a film and enjoy the experience. This year things have been rather different but we can still enjoy the cinema in a safe way. Vue Stroud invited me to visit ahead of half term to see just how safe it still is.
With 6 amazing screens at Vue Stroud, you won’t be short of things to watch. Settle down and wait for the lights to go down, and as soon as that hush falls over the whole audience, you know the magic is just about to start.
This half term Vue Stroud are showing a number of classic films as part of their Escape for Everyone campaign and with Halloween around the corner, I decided now was the time to introduce Erin and her friend to the delights of Hocus Pocus!
Vue is welcoming families to enjoy great stories giving everyone the chance to switch of and relax. We all need a little bit of that in our lives right now! Watching a film offers true escapism and I feel that it is really important to support the arts and our local venues in order to keep them open.
Nothing beats the big screen for atmosphere, with surround sound and comfy VIP seats. We felt truly pampered and special when we visited.
I have shared before that there are certain films I want my teenagers to watch, films can widen your eyes and convey such important topics that can’t be learnt in other ways. Here are my inspirational films for teens that I suggest they watch at some point.
What Covid Precautions are in Place at Vue Stroud?
The first thing to note is that there is a one way sysem in place as you enter. A member of staff was on hard to direct us to the sanitising station prior to approaching the till point. Floor markings enabled social distancing and we appraoched the till where we collected our tickets and ordered our drinks and popcorn.
We were then directed to the screen, still wearing our maks, and took our seats. You are expected to wear your face covering unless you are eating or drinking.
The cinema was very tidy – as always, and we felt very safe. The girls popped out to the toilet and as we have seen in other places every other sink was signed up not to use so hat you could remain socially distanced in the toilets too.
Family Films: Hocus Pocus
The girls absolutely loved Hocus Pocus, it got them feeling all the scares as we watched the witches of Salem putting in a star performance. It was proper old school, but worked amazingly well on the big screen. The girls were transported to a world of magic and potions and they might have actually screamed at one point!
If scares are not your thing there are also some other great family films available for half term including Onward, The Elfkins and Two by Two: Overboard.
I did have a few reservations about visiting the cinema and it was the first time I’ve been back since lockdown however I would go again and the girls throughly enjoyed the treat.
