How to Refresh Your Home for Spring

If you are feeling unproductive and dissatisfied at home, it may be because your house is in need of a total refresh. Take this how you please, a refresh can be done in terms of deep cleaning, updated decor, or even just a good de-cluttering session.

Whatever you choose to do, now is the perfect moment for a refresh. Say goodbye to winter and hello to spring with a slight home makeover! Here’s how you can do it…

De-Clutter and Re-Organize

Before you begin your deep clean, it’s important to de-clutter and re-organize your home. If you try to clean with a bunch of things in your way, you will only make the whole process more stressful and difficult. The best way to tackle a good de-cluttering session is by creating three separate piles with your belongings.

One of the piles will be items that you want to donate, another will be items that you want to keep, and finally, the last pile will be the items that you throw away. If you are unsure whether to keep it or donate it, use the Marie Kondo technique. Kondo claims that you should examine each item and ask yourself “does it spark joy?”, if not, simply trash or donate it.

Deep Clean

Even the most immaculate home will benefit from a thorough deep clean every once in a while. The best way to organize yourself before you begin is by breaking down what chores have to be done in each room. Work from top to bottom and highlight what needs cleaning in each area of the house.

Make sure to include tasks such as window treatments, mattress freshening, and polishing. If you really want that refreshing spring clean feel, consider using a multi-step carpet cleaning processto top it off. Move your heavy furniture to get to all of the hard-to-reach corners, even those that haven’t seen the light of day in months. These finishing touches are what makes all the difference.

Update the Decor

Sometimes you are in the mood to give your home a slight makeover, we’re not talking a complete renovation, just a small spruce up of your living quarters. You don’t have to have a massive budget in order to update your home, just some creativity and determination.

Check out some DIY and up-cycling projects that can give your old furniture a new lease of life. Sometimes a simple paint job can completely transform a living room or bedroom. If you don’t want to get stuck in with a DIY project, why not try rearranging the furniture in your home? You could even try out the Feng shui method

This kind of refresh should be conducted every year or so. It will help you start the new season with, quite literally, a new spring in your step. You don’t have to spend a lot of money in order to refresh your home. You could choose to splurge or save, it’s up to you.
