Logic games are a big hit in our house. I encourage the children to play logic games as they aid their problem solving skills. Chloe enjoys suduko and completes these number challenges quietly on her own. When I was offered the multi player Kakuzu game I was really excitied. The game didn’t let me down!
The rules are simple. You set up the board covering the numbers with a little pebble. In the provided pouch are the numbers. Simply take a number and work out where it goes. If you uncover correctly you win the pebble and go again. If not you give the pebble to the person to the side of you and it is their turn.
The winner has the most pebbles once the board is fully uncovered. The game starts with luck really as until you have uncovered a few numbers you can’t start working out logically the number.
As this picture shows the children really enjoyed this game. They played it three times without stopping. As they got the hang of it they got faster. What I liked was listening to them playing, because although it can be a competitive game. They were actually working out the logic and talking about where the number could be. This is great for children who may need to talk through problem solving skills.
The age is suggested for 8+ yet Dylan who is very logical but only 6 was playing and competit6ing on equal ground with the ten year olds.
I fully endorse and recommend this game. It another game I would like to see in classrooms. In fact I am beggining to turn my back on many of the ‘traditional’ well known board games as I seek out logic games that are both fun and developing skills in youngsters.
