72 Hours in Lloret De Mar with Jet 2 Holidays

Lloret De Mar is a popular destination in the Costa Brava region of Spain and we were lucky enough to spend 72 hours in Lloret de Mar with Jet 2 Holidays. In this post, I am sharing how we spent our weekend sunshine mini break in the beautiful Costa Brava. As always I have a focus on family travel and why Lloret De Mar is ideal for teenagers and families who are looking for the best time and best beaches!

Family Travel to Lloret De Mar

Travelling to lloret de mar.

We travelled to Lloret De Mar with Jet 2 holidays, I was actually lucky enough to win a short break by entering a competition, I know dream win right! We flew from Birmingham Airport at 6 am on a Friday morning. The flight is a short flight that takes under two hours. We flew into Girona Airport which serves the Costa Brava area and jumped on to our hotel transfer which took about 35 minutes. The Spanish time difference is an hour behind us in the UK which worked in our favour for a weekend away as we were in the hotel just after 10am! This means that you get pretty much the whole day – which is ideal for a mini break when every hour counts!

Staying on the Costa Brava Coast

We were fortunate enough to be staying in the new L’Azure Hotel which is part of the Jet2 luxe collection and is a 4 star hotel complete with spa, rooftop pool and outdoor pool. When we say this hotel is amazing we are not kidding! The rooms are perfect for families or couples and have a variety of layouts. We had two rooms next door to each other – which was our requirement. We find travelling with teens works best with our own rooms, space and privacy from each other! We still want a family holiday but our requirements are different now that the kids are older. However, it was good to be next door, especially when I had to wake them up for breakfast on the final day!

The food at L’Azure is honestly the best hotel buffet food that we have ever had. The presentation and menu were second to none. Breakfast was a huge buffet with fresh fruit, yoghurts, cooked options and pastries. There were milkshakes, fresh juices and prosecco for breakfast if you so wished!

Lunch and dinner had everything from sushi, tapas, traditional Spanish cuisine, joints of meat and amazing fajitas with fresh vegetables. Desserts were brownies, cheesecakes, fruit and more. Our plates were full and the waitresses and waiters were attentive at all times. Everyone we spoke to commented on how good the food was and how impressed they were as often buffet or all inclusive meals tend to be samey and certainly not as well presented.

72 hours in Lloret de Mar

Friday we spent the day taking in the sea views and having a wander down to the beautiful beaches. The hotel was a very short walk away from the town so we were pretty much in the heart of the action. The summer months are busy for Lloret de mar holidays but visiting for a long weekend in September was quieter yet the weather was still glorious.

Friday at L’Azure Hotel

We spent the afternoon relaxing around the pool and lounging on the day beds – it’s a hard life!! There is a vibrant nightlife if you are looking for that with teenagers or for a couples break. We spotted a few hen do’s and stag do’s suggesting that there is plenty of opportunities to party if that is what you are after.

Saturday in Lloret De Mar

We continued our relaxing break with a trip to Fenals Beach, which was a short walk from our hotel. Fenals Beach is the further end, it’s a bit quieter and a little more sheltered than the main Lloret beach which can have big waves. The sea in September is gorgeous and at its hottest after warming up all summer. We spent a fair amount of time swimming in the sea and jumping the waves. The sand is shingle based, so not ideal for building sandcastles, but my kids are well past that stage! There was a lifeguard on duty and we hired loungers. I was impressed that there are free toilets near plus cafes where you can enjoy a coffee or lunch. If you are beach lovers you will love the location the beach has a rocky cove and a blue flag award. We saw a number of boat trips being offered if you like to explore Costa Brava from another viewpoint.

Some of the others who had also won the short break away headed off to Water World which is one of the largest water parks. The families we spoke to had a fun-filled adrenalin-based day there although they said the water was cold! I think we lucked out with the water temperature by choosing to be in the sea at this time of year.

Others had opted for a culture vulture option and had day trips to Girona and wine tasting too. There really is something for everyone at playa de lloret de mar, it is a great place where everyone will have a great time.

Sunday Vibes

Again our lucky group of competition winners were split into their groups with those on a family fun break heading off to the zoo followed by a visit to the aquatic zoo (or aquarium). They took the coach as it was over an hour away but ideal for littles who could see some wonderful animals.

As we were on a mission to relax and revive we had the morning to lounge, we took a short beautiful walk into the old town before finding our spot on another day bed! The weather was absolutely amazing and we just wanted to soak up the late summer sun. We knew that this would be our final blast of the sun for the year!

In the afternoon Chloe and I got to experience the spa, which did not disappoint! The spa is available for a small charge and can be used for over 16s. We had a 30-minute back massage, both of us felt amazing after this and our therapists were brilliant. We had our massages in a couples room which was really good and both of us felt really relaxed afterwards.

After the massage, we made use of the spa facilities, which included heated beds, jacuzzi, ice bucket, steam room, sauna and indoor pool. I could have stayed there for hours as my tensions just melted away! Instead, though I headed back to the day beds with a cheeky glass of wine!

Then came the finale which was a Gala Evening hosted by Jet2. We had been told to expect some surprises throughout the weekend and when Pixie Lott walked onto the stage we were blown away! We were then treated to a private acoustic set where she sang to us. The wine flowed, and we danced and socialised. Although if you head to stay at the hotel I can’t promise Pixie Lott I can promise that you will have a fabulous weekend.

We fell into bed with smiles on our faces and knew that we had a flight early the next day. We managed a quick breakfast before being transferred back to Girona Airport. The flight again was seamless and took 2 hours.

Final Thoughts

To sum up, Lloret De Mar is a great destination for a weekend break, or a family holiday. Check out the hotels Jet2 has available which include inclusive hotels and half-board options. We will certainly be looking at booking with Jet2 in the future as they have the best price and best deals for summer holidays and new bookings.
