Had a Tough 2023? How to Create the Perfect Bucket List for 2024

Many of us have had difficult years. In fact, many of us have had a difficult few years. With pandemics, wars, political unrest, a cost of living crisis, it’s no wonder either! But 2024 is here, and a new year brings new hope.

Creating a bucket list can be a great way to start a fresh, and really improve our mental health. Whether you’ve been through periods of grief, battled illness or endured addiction detox and come through the other side, having hope, goals and something to look forward to can really make you love life again.

It’s something many medical professionals recommend, with people going through alcohol rehab, for example, encouraged to make lifestyle changes and focus on the things they love doing, whether it be finding new hobbies or setting achievable goals.

A bucket list can do that. So, whatever reason you want to start a bucket list, here are some top tips for perfecting it…

Allow it to reflect your passions

The foundation of any bucket list should be aligning it with your goals and what you love. Start with a period of reflection to uncover what inspires and excites you. That could be travelling, it could be learning something new or the thought of taking on the challenge of a lifetime.

By aligning with your hobbies and interests, it’ll ensure that your bucket list is enjoyable to do, achievable and provide you with truly meaningful experiences.

Make sure you balance aspiration with achievability

Far too many of us create bucket lists that simply aren’t attainable. While the sky is the limit, setting achievable goals alongside those will keep your bucket list ticking over and in turn keep your heart in it and striving for more.

There needs to be motivation within it, and you’re not going to get that if your bucket list is made up of huge challenges that will take years to fulfill.

Variety is the spice of life

Do make sure you mix it up when it comes to your bucket list. Have a sprinkling of everything. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is great for personal growth and will add more depth to you as a person.

Think about travel, challenges, skills like learning a language, getting crafty and so much more, again aligning with your interests but keeping things fresh at the same time.

Share it with those you love

While it’s your bucket list, that doesn’t mean you have to do everything alone. Far from it. It’s the chance to share your dreams with others, whether that be friends, family, colleagues or anyone else.

Sharing a journey will help develop stronger bonds with people, improve relationships and in turn, may inspire them to start their own bucket list journey, where you could indeed share some of their biggest dreams too!

Sharing is caring!
