When Christmas is in full swing it is easy to forget those less fortunate than ourselves. We always remember to give at Christmas especially to our local children’s ward. Not only have all three of my children been patients again this year with a broken ankle for Chloe, asthma attacks and grommets for Erin and finally Dylan’s in stay due to hayfever and staphococcal infections but we ourselves spent Christmas there a few years ago. When we are on the ward the children are always grateful for the toys there to entertain them from the dolls house that Erin adores to the playstation that kept Dyl entertained when he is in isolation.
Erin adored the wooden dolls house so much that we got her a beautiful Rose Cottage from PlayMerrily Toys for her birthday. I am hoping it means she doesn’t feel the need to end up in hospital next year just to play! Rose Cottage is beautiful with furniture and dolls included. I adore wooden toys and plan on keeping this forever – it will be Erin’s to reclaim as a mum herself and hopefully pass on to her own children.
The toys on childrens’ ward are a real distraction to poorly children. When Dylan awoke on Christmas morning in a private room hooked up to antibiotic drip the present that had been donated by another family was nestled on the foot of his bed. Wrapped and delivered by our own angels that were taking care of Dylan as he battled a huge infection. Since that year we have taken toys to childrens ward every year to say our own private thanks for making a tough Christmas more bearable.
Another way we give is through the childrens crib service at our church. Each year the children take gifts to the tree and they are then taken to a local women’s refuge for children that arrive in dire need and have nothing with them.
It is important to me that the children appreciate what we have and think of others whilst we are celebrating Christmas.
Hark the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!”
Sharing is caring!

Eva got that dolls house for her birthday and she loves it. Although the furniture doesn’t stay in place for very long. She is probably recreating our house and my cleaning haha x
