The countdown to our summer holiday has well and truly started. The children are so excited to be heading to Florida, Chloe has been busy bikini buying and Dylan has the countdown app on his iPod (which he has just earnt back after lasts weeks big shock).
I have lists of things to to do and keep checking my ‘Disney Notebook’ and ticking off the jobs. I really have spent ages planning the details to get everything right. When we booked it seemed so far away in time but it has really sped around. This week I went shoe shopping with Erin to get some shoes suitable for her. As everyone knows, because of Erin’s hip dysplasia and her now wearing orthotics for hypermobility we don’t take any chances with shoes. I only shop in two places for her one of them being Clarks. I decided that wearing her kickers boots may not be entirely practical in hot sunny Florida and therefore I had decided to get her some doodles. We arrived at Clarks and Erin was immediately drawn to the gorgeous sandals in the window display. I can’t wait until her feet are stury enough to let her choose whatever catches her eye.
However I knew that we needed more ankle support. The staff, who were unaware we were on a review trip, were excellent at measuring Erin and informing me which canvas shoes would fit with her insoles. We chose a pair of Sophia May in denim which cost £18. I think doodles are so practical and as Erin has very wide feet they fit really nicely as the strap slides through until it is where you want it then it shuts with the little clasp, they are fully adjustable. I also think it is a great feature that they are fully washable.
I have always bought Clarks for the children when they are little as I think it is important to be fitted well and to get shoes that fit both in length and width. Since Chloe is older I don’t get so much say in the shoes she chooses but she opted for some brown Angelica Slice which are flats for school that are from Clarkes. She wears her shoes really heavy and has discovered for herself that cheaper flats are a false economy when you are wearing them everyday. I myself am a recent convert to clarks again as they are so comfy. I recently went to Cheltenham Gold Cup Races and I had bought some mushroom coloured smart shoes and I managed to wear them all and night with ease.
Therefore you can see we are all Clarks wearers in our house, it certainly is our shoe shop of choice and I will soon be heading back to get Erin fitted for her first pair of proper schools shoes!
