Blogging means that I know my postmen and ladies quite well, they are frequent visitors at my door and I love recieving treats in the post. Who doesn’t look forward to the post when they know they have something lovely on the way? Beauty boxes have been big business for a few years, and for those that have not heard of them, they are a subscription service that delivers beauty products to try each month for a fixed cost. Products are a mixture of samples and full sized items.
However some clever person came up with a similar concept for girl teens and tweens. The genius idea was to have a monthly subscription that comes a few days before the girls period is due and it will come complete with their chosen brand of sanitary protection but also a sweet treat, a nice drink and a beauty treat. The cost is £9.95 a month (the first box is on offer at only £5.95) you can sign up for your teen parcel easily.
Chloe received her first box yesterday and together we had a look at the products and a chat about the idea. Firstly though watch my unboxing of the teen parcel.
The contents of the box was far more than the £9.95 subscription fee and the products were well known brands. When looking at other months I was really impressed to see that brands like Elizabeth Arden are involved. I realise that it is a great way for brands to connect with their future market of teen girls but I was pleased to see brands that I would buy for her and that will be good for her.
How it works:
On the website you select the choice of towels or tampons and also the estimated date when periods start and the rest is done for you. It pops through your door a few days before it will be needed and just offers a bit of a hug I think. Chloe is 15 and doesn’t like buying her ‘girlie’ things as still finds it a bit eembarrassing its fine if we are just throwing them in with the weekly shop but she doesn’t like buying them in our local shop for example. this way she will have a ready supply even if mum has forgotton to stock up! The beauty treats are just what you need when feeling a little tired, run down and generally a bit yucky.
Next week there will be a twitter party with Tots100 and Teen Parcel to discuss girls issues around starting periods and also on the important topic of building girls confidence. As a mum of a teen and a former teacher I know how important these topics really are so keep an eye out for that.

Did you know there’s a phone app to help keep track? I find that teens don’t like to note the start and stop dates on a calendar, which is what I was taught to do. This solves that problem.
That pic is the pink parcel isn’t it? I like the branding much better than the teen parcel one, which is a bit overly pink.
