10 Gifts and Accessories to Encourage Loved Ones to Practice Self-care

Self-care is not just something we owe to ourselves. Our loved ones also deserve it. If you want to introduce the joys of self-care to someone you care about, the suggestions below can be a great way to get them started.

1.) Customized rubber bracelets

Just getting the concept of self-care in someone’s mind and making it stay there can be a challenge. A personalized silicone rubber bracelet with meaningful reminders to practice self-care can be a simple yet effective way to have your loved ones start thinking about it. Be sure to include a specific message (i.e. Don’t forget to hydrate) to make these reminders more effective.

2.) Spa or salon gift-cards

Some people will not go to a spa or salon themselves. By giving them a gift card, you’re encouraging them to try pampering themselves, which we all need sometimes. Who knows? Maybe they’ll start going to the spa by themselves.

3.) Yoga classes

Yoga is one of those things that people tend to be somewhat skeptical of at first until they try it. Most people who’ve tried it just couldn’t get enough of it afterward.

4.) Scented candles

Scented candles are a simple way to help someone relax after a long and stressful day. Be sure to find out what kinds of scents your loved ones find appealing. You certainly don’t want to give them a scent that reminds them of things they dislike.

5.) Refillable water bottles and flasks

Staying hydrated is often a challenge but a necessary one for maintaining optimum health and keeping a good mood. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recommends that adult men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids while adult women should have about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids. You can encourage this by giving your loved ones refillable water flasks that allow them to better monitor their daily intake.

6.) Bath bombs and body scrubs

These toiletries are small luxuries that help our stressful lifestyles just a little easier to deal with. Be sure to send your loved ones bath bombs and scrubs with scents they might find appealing.

7.) Tongue scrapers

Keeping nasty toxins out of your body is a bit simpler with a tongue scraper. Scrapers are far more effective at removing embedded bacteria from the tongue than toothbrushes and it usually only takes one try to make someone a tongue scraper advocate. Once you’ve tried a tongue scraper, you’ll never want to go a day without it. Be sure to look for quality scrapers made by a reputable manufacturer.

8.) Scent diffusers

If they’re not really into the ambiance that a scented candle provides, a scent diffuser can sometimes be a better alternative. These come in different types, so be sure to assess your loved one’s living situation so you can pick one that makes sense for their needs.

9.) Teas and infusions

A lot of people in America are still not huge tea drinkers outside maybe highly sugared iced tea. Teas has less caffeine than coffee, which generally makes it a better drink for winding down in the late afternoon or evenings. There are also thousands of different types and ways to enjoy tea, and it’s generally just a better drink for sipping at a slow unhurried pace. If you think a loved one needs to cut back on the coffee, you can give them a set of high-quality teas and infusions to help reduce their caffeine jitters.

10.) Fruit and veggie subscription boxes

Even if someone has no plans to go vegan, chances are they can stand to get more veggies in their diet. Veggies are essential for maintaining optimal health and can be even more phenomenal when sourced fresh from a quality subscription service. If there’s a veggie subscription service in your area, that might be the ticket to encouraging someone to eat more veggies or to discover a new love for them.

These aren’t the only ways to encourage the people we love to start taking care of themselves. If you have a parent, child, friend, or relative who you think might need to take care of themselves a bit more, try sending them these gifts on their birthdays or Christmas. They’ll get the message and they’ll probably appreciate your going the extra mile for them.
