Nikura essential oils are oils that are derived from plants and have been used since ancient times for many reasons and in many ways; from being used in traditional medicines to creating perfumes and incense. These essential oil blends are just as present now as they were in ancient times. If you have heard a lot about these oils but haven’t used them, then this post is here to help. Find out 3 simple ways to use essential oils that are the most common ways to get you started on your oil journey.

1. Diffuser for aromatherapy
There are different methods one can use to incorporate essential oils into daily life and daily routine. One of those is to use an aromatherapy diffuser. Aromatherapy is a popular alternative therapy that uses scent to evoke an emotional response. It is often used in treatments like holistic aromatherapy that are said to help heal the mind, body, and spirit.
It’s even been said that if you have high blood pressure, the use of certain oils like lavender oil can help bring down your blood pressure if used over an extended period of time. Jasmine is said to work by easing a tense nervous system. Whilst lemon essential oil can help with stress relief due to its stress-relieving properties. All in all, there are many health benefits to oils but you shouldn’t use them for a consult with your GP or alternative medicine provider in the treatment of a medical condition or a health condition.
There are different ways that you can diffuse your oils. One of those is to use reed diffusers. The reeds absorb the oil and then subtly disperse it throughout the room. A reed diffuser is an easy way to incorporate aromatherapy into your home. Reed diffusers are simple to use. Add your essential oil base and drop in the reeds. Once they have soaked up the oil, flip them over and allow the scent to disperse.
Another option is to use an essential oil diffuser. You’ll have to buy an ultrasonic diffuser that is plugged into the wall, but this is a great way to get the scent dispersed into a larger area, like your sitting room. It works by producing ultrasonic waves that vaporise the water and oil and produce a cool, scented mist.
To set it up you simply,
- Fill up with water until the water mark is reached,
- Add drops of your favorite essential oil (between 3-15 is recommended, but the strength is up to you),
- Allow it to disperse throughout the room,
- Take a deep breath and enjoy!

2. In the bath
Another simple way to indulge in oils is to use them in the bath. Beware though, adding undiluted essential oils straight into the bath isn’t recommended. For one, the oils don’t actually mix in with the water and can have adverse effects such as your skin being unable to gauge the water temperature because the oil feels cool against your skin. This can cause burning in the bath.
Another way to use oils safely in the bath is to use emulsifiers. A popular and safe emulsifier is milk. By mixing milk with your drops of pure essential oils the oil is absorbed into the milk and then added to your bath water.
One more option is to use common carrier oils. Dilute essential oils in carrier oils to make them safer to use in your warm bath.
Some popular carrier oils to use are;
- Coconut oil,
- Jojoba oil,
- Olive oil, and
- Sunflower oil.
3. For a massage
Oils can also be used for massage and it is recommended to use a carrier oil when doing so as well. Add a drop of essential oil for each teaspoon of carrier oil, though some advice says to use an ounce of carrier oil, which is equivalent to 2 teaspoons. This will give you a blend that is safe to be used topically and helps your massage to have the benefits of essential oils.
The benefits of an aromatherapy massage include the following;
- Improved blood flow and an improvement in circulation,
- Reduced pain and inflammation,
- Relief of headaches,
- And of course, an overall sense of well-being and relaxation.
All in all, there are many benefits to using oils and the power of essential oils is quite undeniable. As with everything, do take precautions. You can be allergic to different oils and not know it. Drops of essential oils can be added to a cotton ball for a patch test. If you know your skin is sensitive do this to prevent an allergic reaction.
The use of essential oils can be beneficial in many ways. We hope that these 3 ways to use essential oils help you on your journey to discovering the benefits of oils.
