This year’s festive holiday may not be exactly like those we have experience previously, and frankly, it is unlikely we will experience one like it again, which is actually quite a good thing. By now many of us will have eagerly been going through collections of clothes deciding what to wear for the countless events you have planned in December, but wait, this is 2020 so those events may be cancelled, or the latest round of lockdown rules have put a big thick line right through your plans. Regardless of what fund we may or may not be having this year, there’s one thing that we can count on and that’s getting dressed up. You don’t need an event to go to, or event to attend, or a dinner date to get dressed up, it looks like we will be dining with our own household and having some more screen-time with our nearest and dearest, so maybe getting dressed up will be the only way to feel like it is Christmas, but as we have been doing for months, all we can do is wait and see.
Festive Pyjamas
No Christmas holiday would be complete without a set of snuggly festive pyjamas you lounge around in, eat your own bodyweight in food and open presents in and that’s why this outfit choice tops our list. Designer Outfit
If you have expensive taste, and like to show off your stuff, then the only festive outfit for you this year is a designer one! Depending who your favourite brand or designer is, you may be able to find a Christmas jumper, albeit an expensive jumper. This outfit may not be as much for lounging as it is showing off your outfit on social media, so if you gave invested a large chunk of money into a sweater, it’s best to take it off before dinner to avoid any gravy mishaps!
Black Tie/LBD
If your Christmases are about getting dressed up and heading out to a restaurant, which means no stressful cooking and no washing up after, then you may be more favourable to a formal outfit, such as a 3-piece suit or a little black dress and heels. The Classic Christmas Sweater
There is no way we could put together a list of holiday outfits and not mention the humble Christmas jumper! If you family is anything like mine, then you will have a collection of photographs from each year of you and your family all proudly sporting your festive sweaters in all their glory! We have a little competition of who can find the least festive Christmas jumper, which with the amount of heavy metal bands, cult tv shows and classic movies now selling their own versions it’s easy to find something a little left field.
Layer Up
This isn’t as much an outfit choice as it is a way to wear your outfit. As it is the festive period it can get a little chilly, and what better way to keep warm than adding in additional layers to your outfits. This type of outfit is perfect if you are heading on a Christmas walk, if it gets cooler you can always add in a few more layers and if you want to add personality and colours then you have plenty of opportunities as you add additional layers.
