6 Things to Consider When Planning a Wedding

We know that planning a wedding from start to finish can be incredibly time-consuming, expensive and stressful.  After all, it is one of the most important days of your life so why shouldn’t it be as perfect as it can be? Here are a few things you should take into consideration as you begin your planning.

  1. Setting a realistic budget

The very first thing that you should discuss when you’re beginning your wedding plans is how much you’re willing to spend overall. To work this out, make a list of everything that you’re going to need to pay for, some of the biggest costs being the venue, catering, dress and transport. You’re bound to forget about certain things such make sure you give yourself a certain amount of leeway.

  1. Choosing the right location

Without a doubt, the location of your wedding is one of the most important things to consider. You’ll probably have a rough idea of when exactly it is that you want to get hitched but remember that the availability and cost of the venue could change this. Do you want to keep it simple with a church wedding or do you want to go with something bigger like a chateau rental in France?  You won’t be able to plan anything else until you have secured a venue for both the ceremony and the reception. After that, everything else should fall into place…with a bit of work, of course.

  1. Your reception

Once you’ve got the location for your ceremony set in stone, the next location you need to think about is where you’ll have your reception. Most venues offer this as a package, but if you’re getting married in a church or a registry office, then it’s unlikely that you’ll have this option. Most people invite more guests to their reception than the ceremony so it is vital that you choose a venue that can safely fit all of your guests. If you are looking in the capital then wedding venues in London can help.

  1. Looking your best

Choosing your dress will be one of the most exciting parts of the whole wedding organisation process. Many winter wedding dresses, and all of the accessories to go with it usually account for 10-15% of the entire wedding budget, so it’s worth bearing this in mind when you start shopping around. There are so many wedding dresses to choose from that many brides start looking for the perfect one up to six months before the day of the ceremony. Usually, this is a little easier for the groom who can rent a suit for the day.

  1. Photos

Hiring a professional photographer might be the last thing on your mind, but if you don’t want to rely on blurry phone photos from your guests to remember your day, then it’s best to get someone booked. Decide on what type of photography style you prefer as this will help you when looking through the portfolios of some of the photographers you could choose. Do you want candid and spontaneous pictures, classic portraits or something that is a little edgier? Do your homework before you commit.

  1. The finishing touches

At long last, you’ve got to the end stages of your wedding planning, and all you need to go through now are the finishing touches. These things could be anything from transport, speeches, wedding music, the cake and even the first dance. These may not be as vital as what we’ve already discussed but to have the perfect day; everything needs to come together smoothly.

Of course, there’s no way that we can summarise how to plan the perfect wedding day in just six simple steps, but they should help you to prepare a plan for each stage of the process. The most important thing is to make the most out of your special day.
