A letter now you are six

Sweet girl

How can you be six?  We measured you yesterday on the wall in bedroom where you like us to put the month and mark it with pen. You have grown again, grown both physically and emotionally.  As you bounded into the living yesterday morning to open your presents you kept saying how much you wanted each thing.  That is you all over, thoughtful and mindful about everything.

We had already enjoyed your party at the weekend.  I watched you sparkle with your friends and thought how lucky you were to have such great friends.  School and your friends are so important to you.  Whilst come the weekend Chloe and Dyl are glad of the break you say that you miss school and can’t wait for Monday again.  You say weekends are boring and you have nothing to do.  I wonder when that will change!

After school you wanted to take your best friend to Costa.  I watched as you both giggled your way through your hot chocolates and the cake that you shared. Your enthusiasm for everything is infectious as you both laughed and sang much to the amusement of those sitting near us.

Stay sweet little thing, the world needs people like you more than ever.  Those individuals that see the best in everything and care about others.  Whilst others worry about the world and what they are bringing their children into, I know that it is through children like you and your friends that the world will become a BETTER place.  You need to be a shining light and speak up when something is not right, where there is injustice and where others are marginalised.

Children do not judge others it is adults that do that.  It is adults that use race, religion, gender and age to hurt others.  Children are innocents and I know you will make your mark.  I am so proud of you.  You have not had the easiest start with a dodgy hip and ankles and feet that bend too much.  You have kept me awake countless times whilst I worry about your future and any health issues you might face.  However one thing I know is that you will deal with it all in a positive way because that is the strong girl you are.

The world maybe uncertain right now but I am certain that you will be a star. You will remain positive and respectful and care for everyone like you do.  You shine inside and out sweet girl.

In these photos Erin is wearing the cable knit star dress from vertbaudet which we both love.  It is such a comfy dress and looks great with leggings or tights.  The dress is currently on offer for just £18  I adore children wearing white / cream and whilst not always practical it looks fab!  This dress washes well and is so versatile.  This is a real winter staple for us.
