A couple of weeks ago I took Chloe on a post GCSE break to Norida Beach, Kos, Greece. We booked our holiday back in April for a great price, with Thomas Cook. It was a relaxing treat for Chloe and me after months of GCSE preparation.
I enjoy having that one to one time with the children, it is a time to really connect and give them some undivided attention. We went fully inclusive but did leave the resort a few times, once for a night out in the local town and once to go night shopping in Kos.
Getting to Kos we flew from Birmingham which is an hour away for us. However, we had a late flight home which meant we didn’t land until midnight. Therefore I wanted meet-and-greet parking for ease and Maple Manor Parking obliged. It is so simple from Birmingham too as the terminal is a one-minute walk away from the car drop-off point. We easily located the drop-off point and then crossed the car park into the terminal. However, the terminal was not as organised as the parking!
We know that airports have queues and yes it was midday so probably the biggest point but it was crazy busy and I got very fractious about it. You can pay extra to bypass the queues and join a fast lane – but I really don’t feel that we should have to pay for that.
After dropping our bags (which was quick) we spent well over an hour waiting to go through security. I had arranged the treat of having access to the Aspire Lounge to start the holiday in style and because of the queues we only had about 25 minutes in there, so if you are planning this do ensure you get there early. Once inside the lounge, it is an oasis of calm. There are plenty of seats and the you help yourself to the snacks and drinks. There are plenty of drinks and I poured myself a large Gin and Tonic (well it would be rude not too).
We feasted on warm bread rolls, bar snacks, pastries and crisps. The drinks were plenty and the food was good. We didn’t have dinner booked on the plane therefore we wanted to fill up in the lounge! Both the Aspire Lounge and the Maple Manor parking were booked through Holiday Extra’s who take the hassle out of those little details, you can book hotels, car hire, parking and lounges all in one place and save yourself hassle.
Once in the lounge the holiday really started, we sneaked in some last-minute shopping too! Here you can see just what we got up to and you see the Norida Beach Resort in all its glory. I totally recommend this especially if you go out of the school holidays when it is a lot cheaper. I don’t mind sharing that we had 7 days, fully inclusive and I paid just £950 for the two of us. Chloe is 16 and was charged as an adult.
