Are UK holiday parks all the same? We stayed at Waterside Holiday Park and Spa and think not!

All the fun of the seaside.  With many deciding on a stay-cation this year ahead of global travel concerns and the increased cost of package holidays we headed to Weymouth to stay at Waterside Holiday Park.  Waterside is a 5* holiday park in Bowleaze Cove at the top of Weymouth. I booked it in April after struggling to get an all inclusive family holiday for five of us at a decent price.  I found it myself via google and purposely stayed away from some of the big name parks. We have quite high expectations and decided that we would stay in Weymouth rather than going abroad.  A holiday park wasn’t my first choice for a family holiday, I had some preconceived ideas but they were quickly dispelled upon arriving.

Dylan and myself had already been to Moliets,  and Chloe and me had had a post GCSE break at Norida Beach, Kos therefore they had both been abroad and so this holiday was more for Erin.  Having three children with a ten year gap between the eldest and youngest can be challenging on day trips and holidays. We opted for a 8 berth mobile home and it was only a year old.  The accommodation was excellent, it was spotlessly clean when we arrived and ready for us at 2pm as advised.  Our first impressions were great, we had plenty of space for the five of us.  There was a double bedroom with an ensuite toilet / sink.  Two twin rooms with fitted storage, Erin and Dyl shared which gave Chloe the second twin room.  Our home came with a dishwasher, microwave, oven and full size fridge freezer.

A luxury site in Weymouth

The site was billed as luxury and 5*, two phrases I like when trying to relax!  One thing that we wanted was good entertainment for Erin, that and a good swimming pool.  Neither disappointed and there was plenty on offer.

The kids entertainment ran in the morning which Erin enjoyed, she quickly settled and parents stay with their child.  Erin took part in the colouring competition – which she won and a circus skills workshop which she enjoyed.  Each evening there was a mini disco and games before family cabaret shows. Erin loved the fun and games and was never in bed before 10pm but then we had lazy mornings.  The pools are great with a heated outside pool and indoor pools and children’s splash pool. There was also a large soft play area and outside playground.  There was also a sauna which I used and a gym which Lee went to each day.  Neither were ever busy and it was great to have onsite.  The children’s entertainment team were lively, enthusiastic and fun and Erin kept asking to go back!

We were lucky with quite good weather, it stayed dry all week and we were able to do as we wanted.  The site offered everything we needed and housekeeping were fantastic when my youngest was poorly. Erin spent one night constantly being sick and as such we needed a bedding change, the staff were fantastic and took Erin’s nightwear and personal bad mat, along with their bedding and washed it all and returned it back to us within a few hours.  I thought that went above and beyond!

We relaxed, we rested, the children had fun.  Although we still love our all inclusive holidays abroad we would also come back to Waterside in the future.  There is plenty to do in the area including Monkey World, SeaLife Centre, Museums and some of the most beautiful sandy beaches you could wish for.

The cost

Our stay in the mobile home cost £1400 for a week in the summer holidays.  This included use of all facilities on the site.
