My social media timelines have been filled this year with big birthdays as my school year all turned 40. One letter mentioning the big four zero though came from my GP. However they hadn’t popped a fiver in a card and invited me to have a drink on them, there were no sparkly confetti that fell out of the envelope onto my floor instead it was a stark reminder that now I am more susceptible to all sorts of unpleasant ageing illnesses. They want me to have a medical to celebrate this big birthday they probably want to tell me that I am a little overweight, a little short and I still have a blood sugar level too high and indicates that I will be Type 2 diabetic in the future (thanks gestational diabetes).
I do however look after myself, I walk and manage to track it with my fitbit, I have started a regular fitness class in the shape of Fitastic which involves jumping about and planking on a trampoline and is way harder than any fitness class I have attempted before. Having a sports massage each month is about looking after myself and sorting out tense muscles and small pain niggles rather than a nice relaxing treat. It keeps me healthy and keeps me moving.
In terms of make up and beauty products I spend more on myself now than I ever have before and I enjoy trying new products. However I have now started looking at new ranges and my eyes are drawn to ranges promising to reduce fine lines or plump up the skin. The words anti ageing glisten at me and those are what I look for. I have good skin and I know it is still youthful looking but I want to keep it that way – I want to stay ahead of the game and not realise too late that I should have done more. I am being proactive rather than reactive.
one brand I have enjoyed trying is Skinn. Skinn is different to others because its focus is on what’s inside the jar and how it will make you look and feel, not how the jar looks. Dimitri is a make up artist with many years experience, he has worked in the industry for a long time before turning his skills and talents into Skinn. Raised to believe that true beauty comes from within, Dimitri created Skinn to bring out the beauty in everyone. After years of working as a make-up artist for some of the world’s most iconic beauty brands, he went back to his roots and created Skinn.
I was sent the photographed products to try. Collagen is something I understand as I have read about it extensively in my research on hypermobility syndrome. Collagen is the basically the glue that holds the body together and when used in skincare it is anti ageing and it gives skin elasticity and strength. I also love oil products and splash oil liberally on my skin and hair and was therefore really keen to try the face oil. Some still worry that adding oil to skin makes it greasy – not so. This is easily and quickly absorbed and has left my skin feeling great. I am also loving the cleanser which I slather on and sit in the bath with.
My skin is in great condition and I intend to keep it that way by using this range. It is available from Ideal World shopping channel and launched exclusively in the UK in June. Stay connected with the home of shopping TV, Ideal World, on Sky 654, Freeview 22, Virgin 747, Freesat 812 and at www.idealworld.tv and Skinn can be bought online here.
Age is a number to me and turning 40 did not phase me in anyway I feel more content in my skin than ever before and I enjoy being able to afford good quality products that suit me and my skin.
Sharing is caring!
