There is loads to do in the UK each summer. It can be pretty hard to choose so we have found our top 5 to help you decide what to do with the family this year.
1. Curious Arts Festival
Taking place in Hampshire from the 21st to the 23rd of July, the Curious Arts Festival is a celebration of artistic talent. The New Forest plays home to the festival and it is an ideal setting for your children to explore their creative senses. The festival will be hosting events such as a Jabberwocky Hunt and Tales from Tall Trees. To compliment these there will be the Institute of Imagination, who will bring their interactive imagination pods.
2. Notting Hill Carnival
The Notting Hill Carnival is Europe’s largest street festival. It began in 1964 as a way to celebrate Caribbean culture in the UK capital. The festival is held during the bank holiday weekend in August, which means the 27th ad 28th this year. There will be parades made up of performers in wonderful costumes. Aside from the main events many vendors will be selling delicious food and drink while the many side shows keep you entertained. The best part is that it is totally free so if you can get there then you have no excuse not to go.
3. Goodwood festival of speed
Goodwood festival of speed is the festival for those of you who love cars. There can be fewer better ways to spend time this summer than to make this part of your summer antics. There is plenty to at this festival, such as viewing the many cars on display, getting involved in a range of activities, hosted by the big names in the car industry such as Ferrari and Porche, watching high speed races and there is even the opportunity to take part in a driving experience. Just make sure to book online from one of the various car experience days websites in advance, as these driving experiences get booked up very quickly on the day of the festival. This year Nico Rosberg, the current formula 1 champion himself will also be making an appearance.
4. Visit a National Trust Property
The UK has many beautiful properties in the care of the National Trust. Any one of them would make for a beautiful drive, as most are located in the countryside. Each summer these properties play host to special cinema, theatre and music performances. It is an ideal way to spend a calm summer’s day. Bring the family, a large picnic and enjoy the culture and sights of the stately homes in one of their open-air parks and gardens.

5. Islay Jazz Festival
The island located off of the west coast of Scotland has always been a popular summer destination. Beautiful white sand beaches and picturesque Scottish countryside make the island an ideal family spot. In particular the late summer Islay Jazz festival is an event you do not want to miss. This year it will run from the 15th to the 17th of September. During that time you will have the perfect opportunity to see the island as the shows are held in various distilleries and halls. It provides what must be one the most unique contexts within which to listen to jazz music, but the experience is sure to be an unforgettable one.
