You came into our lives and turned it upside down! My millenium girl.
You dictated when you’d sleep – not much. You dictated where you’d sleep – snuggled between dad and me mostly. You dictated what you ate and when. No routine for you! Headstrong from the start.
All the mistakes that can be made with a newborn we did. We cuddled you to sleep, we tiptoed around the house if you napped. We adored you from the start (not that thats a mistake!). The day we bought you home from hospital your dad drove so carefully and slowly. Bringing home our baby girl. My tiny little bundle and we couldn’t keep our eyes off you. You didn’t like your moses basket you much preferred our arms! We didn’t find feeding easy but with effort we got there together. Learning new skills. I have learnt so much from you over the past 13 years.
I can’t believe that was 13years ago. We were so excitied when we got your due date and it was the start of a new millenium. As friends made plans about how and where to start 2000, we smiled knowing we had the trump card, the best way to start 2000.
Now you are almost a teenager. We made it through primary school relatively unscathed and you have excelled at secondary school. You are growing up before our eyes and becoming a teen seems another hurdle crossed. You are like me in so many ways – dad jokes about it and I can see it to.
You make me so proud. You are beautiful and talented. We still adore you.
This year has been tough- for all of us. I haven’t always been there for you and Dyl. I missed things because of Erin’s treatment and DDH. Yet still you kept smiling and getting on with things. You are a brilliant big sister to Erin and at times a horror to Dyl! I guess its because you can be with him! Thankfully he gives you back as much as you give it to him!
13 – I don’t feel old or qualified enough to be the mother of a teenager so I hope that you will continue to teach me to be the best I can be. Have a wonderful birthday sweetheart.
