Yesterday I mentioned Christmas lists and I do believe that most mums are the ones that still do the Christmas shopping and wrapping. I usually have a handful of brochures and flyers dropping through my door advertising their wares and I am always referring to them and folding the corners whilst I mark their places. However post-it index from 3M have supplied me with some index tabs which have made the job much easier. This made me smile as I do have a thing for new stationary and office supplies, I guess it is the teacher in me. I like to see things colour co-ordinated and organised!
Erin has been using them to make sure I fully understand exactly what is on her birthday wish list. However they are also ideal for Chloe for marking pages in her textbooks for school, especially when doing research for essays. I would have loved these as a students. Infact we have been doing something similar with our gcse students, we have been making bookmarks that signify where each topic ends. This is so important for exam technique as students need to know exactly which information is for which particular exam question.
Dylan is the reader in the family, his new favourite being the Percy Jackson books. These make great bookmarks not permanently marking the books anyway and not a bent corner in sight.
However I have been using them whilst looking for recipes for Christmas. I have decided to do a much more home made affair this year. I used to make my grandparents a box of little chocolate sweets. I loved making them and I know how much they loved receiving them as they still tell me now. I am not a cook and making jam would be well beyond me but cherries dipped in chocolate, homemade fudge or marshmallows melted down and then mixed with chocolate are pretty foolproof even by my standards! I think homemade gifts from the children are ideal as they enjoy making them and it shows real thought and affection for the recipient.
Therefore if you are even a little like me you will be in the 83 per cent of women having to flag up articles on a weekly basis, as your are just too busy to read them properly at the time.
