A Date Night at Bills Gloucester Quays

It is not very often that me and the Mr go out for a meal. When we go out we tend to head for a drink at our local pub because it is easy or we tend to go out separately but every so often I try to coax him out and when that happens we tend to head to Gloucester Quays which is a vibrant part of the city that has been well rejuvenated over the past few years. One of my favourite places to go is Bills Gloucester Quays restaurant which is always a popular choice and usually quite busy which we like.

Bills Gloucester Quays has an extensive menu and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner or just for drinks if you prefer! I can recommend the cocktails, especially after shopping at the outlet stores like Ted Baker, Joules and Jack Wills! Bill’s Gloucester Quays restaurant has plenty of seating inside and out – a relaxing space that is ideal now that we are coming into the warmer weather. During an evening I prefer to be indoors where candles are lit and the ambiance is cosy.

Lee and I recently headed to Bills Gloucester Quays to try out their menu and especially the burger of the day! There is also a new Dinner Set Menu, where you can enjoy 2/3 courses from 16.50/19.50, served from 5pm Sunday-Thursday. We were invited down on a Tuesday evening which was a lovely mid-week treat for us. The joy of teenage children means no babysitters are required and we can have a night out easily enough. It was a great way for us to kick start our Easter holidays once term had finished.

When we arrived we were quickly greeted and seated and I started by ordering a cocktail! Well it was a date night! I opted for a refreshing raspberry and rosehip collins which is made with  Beefeater London dry gin, raspberry & rosehip infusion, pink grapefruit cordial, Bill’s Pink Lemonade and raspberries. It was a lovely drink and I certainly could have kept sipping!

We jumped straight to main courses as I am working hard at the gym so the main meal was treat enough for me! I selected the burger special which was a hot buffalo chicken burger, it came with chips. My burger was delicious, filling and very enjoyable, there are a different burger special each week and it made choosing easy. Lee opted for ribs served with sweet potato fries. He really enjoyed them and the portion size was spot on for us.

The staff at Bills Gloucester Quays are attentive without being overpowering. We like to be left alone to eat and that is what we got after the initial ‘is everything ok?’ check. The restaurant is relaxing with plenty of space between tables so that you can enjoy your meal in peace. I ordered another cocktail, this time choosing an Aperol Spritz. I’m late to the Aperol party but have decided it to be this year’s summer drink!

We finished our mains and said no to desserts opting for another drink instead! However, the dessert menu at Bills Gloucester Quays was tempting!

We had a lovely meal and were not disappointed with our mid-week date night! We always say that we should do it more often but you know life and children get in the way! If you are visiting the Quays Gloucester Bill’s is well worth a visit no matter what the time of day.
