After a few days sunning myself in Tuscany with Bookings for You you’d think I’d return to the southwest with some holiday blues! However, I was able to soak away those feelings with a relaxing spa day in Bristol instead! Along with Louise from Pink Pear Bear I was invited to the Aztec Hotel and Spa which is on the outskirts of Bristol.
Not Just a Spa!
The Aztec Hotel and Spa is situated in Almondsbury which is on the outskirts of Bristol with easy access from both Gloucestershire and Bristol City.
The hotel offers a number of packages including girls’ nights in packages where rooms can be used in as a meeting place before converting into a bedroom at night. It offers a great use of space and shows how multifunctional some rooms can be.
The Aztec Hotel and Spa also boasts a very special restaurant, The Curious Kitchen where the Executive Chef Marc Payne has brought in a range of new techniques to expand on the expertise already shown in the kitchen. The team smoke, cure, pickle and preserve in-season meaning all year round the produce is at its best. The hotel showcases these new skills in masterclasses held every Saturday, where the chefs showcase their talents and share expert advice with guests.

The Spa Day Bristol
We arrived ready for our spa day having already chosen a treatment. I opted for a Caudalie Back Massage. After a welcoming breakfast, we were taken into the spa area. There is a lovely lounge area complete with drinks machines and nice seating. We headed into the changing room where we got robed up.
I went straight through for my massage which was blissful. I was asked about my preference for how hard I wanted the pressure and my therapist got it just right!
After my treatment, I headed through to the jacuzzi which was lovely. We spent a further hour using the facilities. There is a fair amount of seating, and plenty more outside if the weather is good. There is water on hand and plenty of plastic cups to keep you hydrated whilst using the spa. The spa has been refurbished and is very modern looking.

After a coffee in the lounge we headed down to the restaurant which again is very modern and well designed. We met with Marc who gave us a masterclass on food presentation and I only wish it was something that I could recreate!

We sat down for a 7 course tasting menu and wow was it worth it!

Each dish was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The goat’s cheese was one of my favourite courses and I recommend giving it a try if you visit the restaurant.
The Curious Kitchen has a great reputation and many come for the food even if not staying at the Aztec Hotel and Spa.
Why Choose a Spa Day
I am a huge fan of Spa Days and think that it is really important to give yourself time to unwind and relax. It is not always easy when we lead busy lives but we need this time for our emotional health and wellbeing. A spa day makes me switch off, put the phone away and just be in the moment and recharge.
I have gone to Spa Days with girlfriends and also on my own. I think it is good to have that time just to reflect on things and look after yourself. The Aztec Hotel Spa is in a great location with easy access and a car park. I would certainly take myself off there during the school day to enjoy a few hours of my own company.
Sharing is caring!
