Cheltenham is beautiful at Christmas, the prom is lit up with lights in trees and the town sparkles in all its glory. Walking through the town is a sight to behold and it makes me thankful to live in the area. One of the jewels in crown is The Ivy Cheltenham which stands at one end of Montpellier.
We love The Ivy and I have treated Erin before to Afternoon Tea which she loved. We also recently had breakfast there for Erin’s birthday at her request! This shows our appreciation of the venue.
The Ivy Cheltenham is currently beautifully decorated and I was invited to come and try the festive-themed cocktails and enjoy a meal with Lee. The outside of the building looks amazing and immediately I felt festive. It was my first festive event of the season.

We started our evening with a cocktail each and I opted for Cinderella themed drink. The Everyman Theatre is showing Cinderella as its panto this year and The Ivy has partnered with them on some festive drinks. Mine was absolutely delicious and I want to try and recreate something similar at home!

For my starter, I opted for the truffled wild mushrooms which is a potato rösti, creamed mushroom, fried quail’s egg, and grated truffle. It was perfect and I really enjoyed it. Lee had salmon and crab which is a treat as we don’t have fish that often at home.

For our mains we both chose a sirloin steak which was so well cooked and we had a side order of spinach and pine nuts which I need more of in my life! We finished off with dessert and I selected the festive snowball which was an explosion of mousse and brandy sauce. Lee had a malted banana ice cream for dessert which consisted of a chocolate brownie, caramelised banana, candied pecans and cocoa nib tuile.

The Ivy is a wonderful experience and you cannot not be impressed with the stunning building. The bar takes center place and is a beautifully decorated restaurant. The staff are really attentive and help make the experience memorable. Our waiters were really knowledgable about the menus and were happy to make wine suggestions based on what we were eating.
The Ivy is open all over Christmas and New Year and would make an ideal evening out either for dining as a group or a more intimate date night.
