Whilst having a family is certainly a lot of fun, we all know that when it comes to feeding the little ones, then things can often get a bit stressful!
Most kids tend to go through the occasional phase of fussy eating. And whilst we should always encourage them to enjoy a varied and healthy diet, there are always a few failsafe options that should be able to appease even the fussiest eaters!
Pasta meals
Whether it’s a penne dish or a spaghetti meal, it seems that most kids are usually OK with eating pasta. Not only are pasta meals relatively easy to throw together, but they can often work out fairly cheap to cook in large quantities too.
And if you are having problems in getting your little ones to consume their required daily amounts of vegetables, then think about creating something like one of these wonderful kid-friendly pasta dishes on the BBC Food website. Even if your kids aren’t fans of red peppers, these vegetables can always be swapped over for something suited to their tastes.
Pizza dishes
We all know how pizza is one of the easiest options for keeping the kids happy. And whilst pizza might not be the most traditionally healthy meal for the family to enjoy, it’s been great to see how healthy pizzas have started popping up everywhere.
Most of our supermarkets now stock gluten-free pizzas in the freezer sections, and don’t forget that if we cook our own pizzas, then we can also sneak a few extra veggies in there too. And even if we don’t have time to cook our own healthy pizzas, then food delivery companies like Deliveroo can come to the rescue in delivering healthy pizzas from the best restaurants in your area!
Healthy burgers
Often it’s the way a food looks that determines whether you get your little ones to eat it or not, and this is why fast food is such a big hit amongst kids. But rather than caving in and taking them to the nearest fast food outlet, there are a few healthier versions of burgers that not only look great, but taste fantastic too!
The ever-reliable Jamie Oliver has come up with some recipes for healthy burgers that include corn and chickpeas rather than meat. And it’s easy enough to leave out the paprika if the kids aren’t fond of spicy foods.
So whilst it’s always an uphill battle trying to keep the family fed in a healthy way, with some of these yummy pizza and healthy burger recipes, it should hopefully be a little easier!
