Feet are now firmly on the floor and the craziness of the last few days is subsiding. I hope that we have raised more awareness of DDH with our TV appearances. This Morning is next on my wish list, Erin and I would love to meet Holly and Phil! We will be in local paper tomorrow and had some photographs taken this morning.
Everyone has been very supportive and complimentary about our appearances on live TV. I was surprised that I was not nervous, I guess after teaching and regularly speaking to groups of people you become quite confident. I also knew Erin would be just fine – she took it in her stride and was perfectly behaved as normal. I think my relaxed nature rubbed off on her and she was not under any stress!
I did make a couple of bloopers that was a bit embarrassing! I wonder how many people noticed I said I had three daughters when quite clearly I don’t! I have two girls and a handsome son in the middle. What I was trying to say is that Erin is not someone who is typical for DDH. I was trying to say I have three children, two of which are girls and Erin being the youngest should not have DDH. If anyone should it should be Chloe (not that I’d wish it on anyone!)
I also said ummmm a few times – I really wanted to mention my blog but couldn’t get it in! Now I have watched all the reports I am really pleased with how it came out. Chloe and Dyl are thrilled they were included on the channel four / five coverage. I think sometimes I forget how much ddh has affected them and our whole family. They have witnessed and worried about so much that Erin has been through. Having a sibling with a serious condition isn’t a barrel of laughs for them either.
If I had had more notice there are some very vain things I’d do! My hair is due for a colour which would have become a priority! I would have made sure I’d taken a new pair of ciba vision lenses as it was such a long day. I would have also had better clothes! I ended wearing the same jumper for all appearances because I had no change of clothes with me. As it was a borrowed a dress to wear as a skirt as I only had one pair of jeans with me. I don’t think Lee will ever get me to travel light again! I will be no, I need three changes – you never know what might happen!
It has been a great week for raising awareness and again thanks for everyone who shared my tweets and staus updates. You made a difference too!
