This week I am joining Notes from Home Friday Club Parenting Carnival whose theme is Five Things I Want My Children To Know About me. Therefore here we go
1. I’ve made mistakes – and its ok. In fact it’s more than ok it has turned me into the person I am today. I want them to make mistakes in their lives and to learn from them too. I may not ever tell them all my mistakes some things are best left unsaid, but getting something wrong is not always a negative.
2. My love for them is unconditional, like my parents for me. I will always stand by them and pick them up when they fall down. At the moment it may be physically falling down that hurts them the most (knocks on the football fields, falling over in the playground, bumping on the floor as Erin takes those first steps) but when the falling down is more emotional I’ll still be there to pick them up. This much I do tell them – every single day. I try to show this unconditional love but am sure some days I fail!
3. I could be funny and did do stupid things when I was younger! Like when at Uni on my 21st I did do a moonie down the street! Like the time I sat at the edge of a road when my friend was actually commanding her guide dog! I changed my hair colour more often than I changed my bedding when I was at University. Therefore I don’t think they will shock me either!
Oh ok – not just when I was younger, I still do stupid things occasionally. But that’s your aunty Faye’s fault as when we have a rare night out we still think we are 18. So yes we drink too much and yes that’s why I have to stay in bed the next day.
4. Dad and me have worked so hard for what we have achieved. We went without in the early days and survived on very little to give you the home and the stuff we have now. Whilst stuff is not the be all and end all, it is important. I wanted Chloe to have nice clothes and for them all to be able to do any after school activity they wanted to try. We have worked to give them the opportunities to try lots of things. We have done it by hard work and working together. I remember the months when Chloe was tiny, the child minder took more of my wages than me but we knew it was a long term investment. Always work hard. Always.
5. I am obsessive – and it may be a trait I have passed on! I’m obsessive to an extent it can drive their dad mad. If it was an OCD cleaning obsessive behaviour I rather think he would like it and be pleased – but its not. I am obsessive about new projects. They consume me for a few years until I find a new craze. My crazes can be all time consuming I’ve done mystery shopping, comping and now I’ve turned to blogging! I’m going to add another to this point as I think they link! I am determined which is why my crazes work. I give over 100% to all that I take on. I hope the children realise this and learn from this too as determination counts.
So there you have the five things I want my children to know about me. What do you want yours to know about you?

Sharing is caring!

Oh the daft things we do when we are young! I think its good to remind our children that we werent born as responsible adults, my children are always wide eyed at photos of me up to mischief!
Yours was one of the ones I read and got inspired. Loved reading this, especially no. 5
Fab list! I love point 4, I wish I’d thought to include that in mine, very inspiring xx
