Five ways to add value to your garden or at least make it bloom

Have you watched that TV programme where people have garden makeovers to add value to their home? I really enjoy all these types of programmes to gather ideas and inspiration.

It can be difficult to know where you can spend on your home that will have a direct impact. My son recently declared, after going to his friends house for the first time, that his friends family must be well off. I asked him why he thought that and it was because they have a water dispenser on the wall in the kitchen with ice cold water!

But I knew what he meant! It is often these little touches that convince us that a house is worth having and turning into a home. For Chloe she experienced the same when her friends had USB wall sockets to charge your phone.

When we bought our home the garden was a bit sad looking. Finally after 7 years we have made a difference. The garden is now a favourite place and the flowers we planted are established and have filled the gaps.

Five ways to add value to your garden or at least make it bloom

  1. Put some effort into cleaning the patio. Jet wash it each year we do this each spring.
  2. Create some seating. We have recently bought an Rowlinson Balmoral Corner Arbour which is currently on offer in Amazon.  The seating makes a real statement in the garden and everyone comments on it.
  3. Buy hardy plants, we quickly learnt that adding seasonal flowers is a bit of a false economy.  We now have hardy plants that come back year after year. We also have the right tools from Engelbert Strauss for the jobs which saves time. Quality tools will ensure a job is done well and the finish is often better as you certainly pay for what you get.
  4. Invest in some lighting.  There are so many lightening products but it means that you will use the garden in the evenings more too.  We often sit outside with the fire pit, lighting and a bottle of wine!
  5. Storage.  At the end of the day I like to hide away all the childrens balls, bats and hula hoops.  I want the garden to look neat and so having some storage to hid away the bits keeps me happy!

These are my five ways to add value to your garden or at least make it bloom. What would you add?
