Therefore, it’s important to be as efficient as possible during the day. Here are some tips that might prove useful to you.

Get ready the night before.

To get off to a flying start on your next working day, do as much prep as you can beforehand. You might declutter your desk, for example, clearing everything but the relevant paperwork and tools you need to start work quickly. You might do the same on your computer, opening up the documents you will need in readiness for the start of work the next day. And you might also consider the next point.

Create a to-do list.

Here’s another activity you should do the night before. Jot down all of the tasks you need to do the next day, starting with those tasks that need to be completed to a set deadline. You can then jump into those tasks when you start work, instead of giving yourself a stressful early-morning mental workout trying to remember the many things you need to crack on with.

Set up split screen on your computer.

If you like to multitask, or you regularly have to go from one computer window to the next, then it makes sense to set up split screen on your computer. This way, you have everything you need on one page, be it your calendar, email account, or the documents you are working on, with quick access to each without having to waste time closing and opening pages. There are some instructions on this site for Mac users – how to split screen on Mac – Setapp – but have a look online for similar if you’re a Windows user.

Install an internet blocker.

It’s tempting to check Facebook, we know, especially when you’re desperate to know what your friends are up to while you’re toiling away at home. And there may be other websites that you regularly visit, for non-work purposes. This is fine during your breaks or after-work hours, but if you spend too much time browsing the internet when you really should be working, you are going to waste valuable seconds (or minutes) of your day. An internet blocker will solve this, as it can limit your access to certain sites when you know you should be doing something more productive with your time. Download something today if you need to curb the temptation of Facebook, etc., and benefit from improved efficiency.
