Do you get bored of eating the same old meals? I do and I am not adventurous when it comes to cooking. I worry about wasting things or the children not eating dinner. When the children are little you tend to stick to meals that you know they will eat and over time that becomes normal. However Hello Fresh came to the rescue by offering me two boxes to try the service out.
I selected Monday as our delivery day and we trailed the classic food box for four people which costs £59. This box provides three evening meals per week. The box comes well packed with the meat chilled and wrapped with ice packs. The produce comes from locally sourced farms which is important and good for local farmers and suppliers. The meat was of exceptional quality and has encouraged me to buy locally where I can. We rely too much on supermarkets and you can taste the difference.
The Hello Fresh boxes also gave me the opportunity to cook with the children. Erin especially enjoys helping me and shelling the peas from their pod was the perfect job for her! The box provides everything needed for all the meals and the recipe cards are really easy to follow with each meal taking between 30-45 minutes to prepare and dish up.
We have eaten and enjoyed meals that we would not have tried and along the way I have found more that the children will enjoy. I giggled to myself as they ate their chips and commented that they tasted different but were nice. It was not until Dylan saw my photo in on instagram that he discovered they were swede chips rather than potato!!
They also really enjoyed the bulgur wheat as an alternative to rice and pasta and it is definitely something I will cook with again. The meals were wholesome, nutritious and well balanced. It was good to use this as it gave me the confidence to expand on our staple meals and it encouraged the children to try new things. I will continue to cook the meals that we tried as they were all enjoyed and I would consider using Hello Fresh again. The boxes could be viewed as expensive but when you take into account the convenience and not shopping yourself it saves time too, which you are paying for.
We really enjoyed using Hello Fresh and my mum and dad are signing up to try the service too based on my recommendation!
Sharing is caring!

I’ve often wondered whether Hello Fresh is any good for families, I had it marked really as something for working couples more than anything. I’ve never tried bulgur wheat either – maybe something for me to consider.
