I have house envy, it is a real thing. It doesn’t mean that I have the green eyed monster whenever I am in a beautifully decorated home but it does mean though that I leave feeling a little inadequate. I love my home but I don’t have an eye for little details. I always like what others have but rarely implement it because firstly I am not in the process of copying others, that would be weird, but I also never have really good ideas. However, Pinterest is my friend when it comes to collecting ideas and it is providing me with inspiration that I plan to use in the new year.
I am setting myself a few DIY works for next year as I like lists and I like to have a plan!
- We will be upgrading our boiler in the new year. We know that it is on its last legs! It has a couple of faults and we know that we can also make it more cost effective. We are planning on changing the hot water tank and relocating the boiler at the same time. Then we will be looking for better deals on heating. Many still need to have oil delivered and if this is you then Emo Oil is competitive and reliable.
- We plan on having new carpets in the hall stairs and landing fitted. Those are the only original carpets still remaining since we moved here so they need a freshen up this year.
- If I win money I would also have the kitchen refitted. I would love a fresh look here but that is a big spend and the boiler project is also going to be expensive so realistically it probably won’t happen next year but I can dream right! I would opt for something shiny and I’d like marble tops but this would then require new flooring in the kitchen too! We have a good amount of storage and therefore it is just new fittings as I don’t need a complete redesign! Maybe I should start entering competitions again in the hope of winning one!
Those would be the main home improvements of the new year. I would love the attic conversion but I think that might be a while yet. Do you have house envy? What would you like to do still to your home it make it your dream home?
