One of the joys of parenthood is to watch your kids grow from the newborn days into teenagers and then beyond as they venture into adulthood. When it comes to learning how to be present and really enjoy your kids, it’s not always an easy process. As parents, you have a busy schedule full of household duties, a job and perhaps other duties such as bringing your kids to their events and extra-curricular activities. If you’re struggling with learning how to be present and really enjoy your kids, then these tips I’m sharing today will inspire you to find clever ways to really enjoy your kids more often.
How to Be Present and Really Enjoy Your Kids
In order to learn how to be present, you must first comprehend what it means to be present in your kids’ life. To be present means to be fully active and mindful of the moment you’re in. You’ll take in the sounds of your kids and hear everything that they’re saying to you. Your mind will not wander off to adult responsibilities and you’ll fully embrace this moment you have with your kids.
Turn Off Electronics
Have time during the day or evening when you turn off electronics and simply focus on whatever your kids want to do. Having distractions off will keep everyone, your kids included, from paying attention to anything except what you’re doing together.
Schedule Time
While it may sound sad, it’s so true that parents need to schedule the time to be present and really enjoy the kids because our life is so busy. With the ever-growing demands that parents have, it’s important that you take time to schedule quality time with your kids on a regular basis.
Practice Mindfulness
Even though you may not have scheduled time with your kids if they want to tell you something be sure to pause and listen. It will only take a few moments of your time to practice mindfulness of being in that moment with your kids and hearing what they have to say.
Be Playful
Younger kids are still so full of energy and imagination, it’s important to let go of your responsible adult exterior and learn to be a kid again. Being playful with your kids from time to time such as tickling, chasing or even telling silly jokes will allow your kids to always feel like you put them first.
Overall the key to being present and really enjoying your kids is to learn how to get in touch with your own inner child, relax, be mindful and schedule the time to enjoy quality family moments together. You can easily be present and enjoy your kids when you use the tips shared here today and remember that these little ones are only kids once, so you may as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Parents play a huge role in their children’s education. In addition to helping find the right school, many get involved in their children’s day-to-day school life, by volunteering in class, serving on parent committees and school boards, and the like.
